Jesus Calling by Sarah Young was first published in 2004 by Thomas Nelson Publishing, which was subsequently purchased by HarperCollins. To date, these books have sold 45 million units.

After the first edition, and prior to the book's meteoric rise, the original Introduction by Sarah Young was revised. In 2017, Ruth Graham did a story about the book at The Daily Beast. That article documents criticism of the book and the revision of the original Introduction. Sarah Young's early account of the book's genesis may not be useful for marketing, but it is significant for assessing the book.

As the original Introduction is difficult to obtain, I am making available here a copy for those interested. I scanned it from my own copy of the 2004 first edition.
